OMAC and WBF Make Joint Decision to Cancel Co-Located Conference
Research Triangle Park, NC (6 January 2009) - After careful analysis, OMAC and WBF mutually agreed to cancel their co-located May 2009 event—Expanding the Horizons of Manufacturing—in response to the current global economic situation.
WBF has opted to postpone its 2009 North American Conference for a later date in 2009.
OMAC recognizes that training and travel dollars will be in short supply for 2009 and wants to help stretch the value of its members’ dollars by providing OMAC expertise at other industry events. As a result, OMAC will not host its 2009 Integration Symposium.
OMAC Technical Director, Dave Bauman, said, “Our members have been telling us that they are very limited on travel to industry events, like conferences and symposia. In tough economic times, like what we are experiencing now, many of our members find their travel budgets slashed, preventing them from attending industry events. For 2009 we felt it would be better for OMAC members if we concentrated our efforts on existing industry events that OMAC supports.”
Though OMAC will not be hosting an event of its own, the organization will still be able to provide its members and potential members the opportunity to learn from OMAC at other industry events through demonstrations, talks, roundtables, and Connect-and-Pack ™ seminars. This will allow these individuals to benefit from both OMAC expertise and those industry events at one time—saving them time and money, which OMAC feels is critical in the current environment.
OMAC invites all interested parties to attend the OMAC sponsored activities and demonstrations at these 2009 industry events:
-
ARC's 13th Annual Manufacturing Forum: Winning Strategies and Best Practices for Sustainable Manufacturing, 2-5 February 2009, Orlando, FL
-
Packaging Automation Forum 2009, 30-31 March 2009, Chicago, IL
-
Pack Expo 2009, 5-7 October 2009, Las Vegas, NV
